Twinsie Tuesday - Marching Orders Take Two

Hello! Before I begin I want to welcome both Amber from Nails Like Lace and Roisin from Cuti-CLUE-les to Twinsie Tuesdays. We also Heather from Peace, Love & Polish joining us the third week of June. Give these ladies a warm welcome - each has an amazing blog and skills that deserve some serious recognition.   :)

Today's Twinsie topic was marching orders. I received my marching orders from Traci from DrinkCitra, who ordered a summer inspired manicure with glitter. Nothing screams summer more to me than a neon pink manicure or pedicure. I layered three coats of China Glaze Shocking Pink (Neon) and then topped it with a coat of China Glaze Fairy Dust. I looooved this mani, although the wear time on this one didn't make it all too long. By the next morning I could feel Shocking Pink lifting from my nails. I'm going to attempt this again, but maybe with a different base coat.

Make sure you check out all of the ladies and see who had to come up with what  ;)

Twinsie Tuesday - Inspired by Another Blogger

Good Morning! Today's post was a tricky one.....inspired by another blogger. There were SO many people that came to mind that I didn't know how to narrow the choices down. After thinking about it for a few days I went to my helmer to pick a polish and it clicked. Before I started blogging I was pretty much obsessed with LetThemHavePolish. So much so that when she posted her Bettina swatches I took the first opportunity to purchase them when an email address was provided for a contact at Bettina. I picked out a bunch of polish, all which turned out to be amazing. For today's polish I chose Bettina Starfish, a bright orange crème that seemed just right for the 90 degree weather we had the last few days in NY. The formula on Starfish is almost a one coater. Two coats really pulled everything together.

Be sure to check out my Twinsie's posts. I'm excited to see who everyone picked:

Twinsie Tuesday - Spring-to-Summer Transitional Polish

Good Morning, everyone! I hope that everyone had a fabulous Memorial Day weekend (if you are in the US). I was excited to have a three day weekend just to relax and I'm bummed about having to be back at work this morning. Ugh! This week our challenge was to pick a Spring-to-Summer transitional polish. Easy! I've been wearing some 'in-between' shades lately, all which consist of pinks, light purples and corals.  For today's post I decided to go with Essie Madison Ave-Hue, a medium shade of pink with subtle shimmer. I used two coats and topped this off with Sally Hanson Insta-Dri (I'm out of Seche Vite and on a no buy/cash diet, so I'm going through older top coats at the moment lol). This polish makes me feel super girly and I think it's a great transitional shade. I always think pastel pinks for Spring and neon pinks for Summer so this is right in between.

Don't forget to check out my Twinsies and what they chose for their transitional polish:

Twinsie Tuesday - TT Revisted Post

Good Morning! This week's challenge was basically up to us - we had to revisit a previous Twinsie Tuesday challenge. I went all the way back and chose from the first three choices, a polish from our favorite brand. I figured I would take it a step farther and show a favorite polish from that brand. For this theme I chose Essie Where's My Chauffeur. My best friend bought this for me for Christmas and I have already worn in a total of four times. I'm already worried about running out and contemplating a back up bottle. The swatch below shows two coats of Essie Where's My Chauffeur topped with Seche Vite. I apologize ahead of time for the extra dry fingers, nothing is cutting it lately (even pure lanolin...)

Don't forget to check out all my Twinsies to see what they decided to recreate today  (I can guarantee that they were more creative than me lol)

Twinsie Tuesday - Oldest Untried

Good Morning! The theme for today's post was a difficult one for me - our oldest untried. I have SO many untrieds that I can't even begin to figure out which is the oldest. When I first found out that 8ty8 Beauty was located on Long Island I went on a major haul. Within a few weeks of finding them I had purchased around 75-100 bottles of polish, mostly China Glaze. Today I decided to go with China Glaze Fly, which I don't ever recall wearing. I was a bit disappointed in Fly, to be honest. In the bottle there is some purple shimmer but once on the nail it disappears. It does have an amazing glow to it though....

Two coats of Fly...

What's your oldest untried?

Twinsie Tuesday - Fishtail Manicure

Good Morning! Before we even get to today's post, I would like to welcome our three new Twinsies - Kelly from Tuxarina, Lakeisha from Refined and Polished and Traci from DrinkCitra! Welcome, ladies! We're super excited to have you on board with us. I want to make sure everyone shows them some love and checks out their blogs, which are linked below.

For today's post we had to do a fishtail mani. A quick Google Image search brought me two options - the option that I chose and a a fishtail mani that resembled a braid. Since my nail art is a bit meh, I chose the easier of the two options. For my base I used Zoya Rocky. The green is China Glaze Four Leaf Clover and the darker blue is China Glaze First Mate. I wanted to keep this ocean themed, so I went with all blue and green colors but I think I would have liked a bit more contrast. Please excuse my nubbins and extra dry cuticles....

Check out all of the other fishtail manicures through the links below. Also, remember to give our new girls a nice big welcome!

Twinsie Tuesday - Polish Picked By Someone Else (Essie Avenue Maintain)

Morning! This week we had to let someone else pick our polishes, so I let my BF pick out the one I would be sporting for today's post. In the end, even though it wasn't my choice that day I fell in LOVE. Essie Avenue Maintain is an amazing bright blue creme with an amazing formula. I wore this for about 4-5 days once I had it on my tips. Below is two coats of Avenue Maintain...

Love love love! This is going to make an awesome pedicure color in the summer.

I'm interested to see what everyone else had to wear. Check them out here:

Twinsie Tuesday - Fictional Animal Print Mani

Good Morning! The theme for this week really made me think long and hard. What kind of fictional animal could I possibly come up with? After having all of these crazy thoughts, I decided on a rainbow tiger. Sure, tigers aren't rainbow (or fictional)....but why not add a bit of color to their stripe pattern. What I pictured in my mind was much, much better than how my mani turned out. Errrr, these are my rainbow tiger stripes....

I don't love these in the least. If I showed this to someone on the streets and asked them what pattern it was I could bet $100 that nobody would say tiger LOL.  I'm sure my Twinsies did a way better job than I did....

Twinsie Tuesday - Sweet Sixteen.... (Polish Picks from Back in the Day)

Good morning! Today's Twinsie Tuesday challenge is an interesting one - a polish that we would have worn at 16. From about 14-18 years old I had acrylics. I had longish, thick, slightly curved acrylics. I had them painted in all types of crazy airbrush designs and sometimes with freehand nail art. They were pretty popular back in my high school, so like most of the other girls I forked over $40 every other week for some stylish nails. Did anyone else have these? Does anyone remember these?

Circa 2000ish...

Sorry for the cruddy quality - it's one of those super cheesy cruise shots with part of my cousin's head and shoulder, but I think you get the idea here....

Fast forward a few years and I started to polish my own nails to save money. I would only wear "safe" colors. Blue, green and red were NOT options. Blue, green and red didn't come into my stash until about 3-4 years ago. Red was the very last color to make it into my "safe" and "comfortable" zone. I wore a ton of pinks, light purples and corals. For today's pic I decided to go with OPI I'm India Mood For Love, which would have been more than safe back in the day...

I'm really interested to see what everyone else picked for their go to polish shade/style in our teen years. Not only have my nails changes from acrylics to nubbins, but now I will also wear any color on my nails without giving it a second thought. As for everyone's picks from back in the day, I have a feeling we're going to see a lot of girly shades  :)
